Trident – The three-pronged spear of Poseidon, god of the seas; Trident Gum is a popular gum. (Note: ‘Tria’ is Greek for ‘three’ and ‘donti’ means ‘tooth’; hence, Trident translates literally as ‘three-teeth’, or ‘triple-toothed’. Trident Gum, if one is to believe the advertising, helps to clean your teeth, thus the allusion.)

Published by under Uncategorized

~In my English class we have been reading Edith Hamilton’s Mythology. We all had gotten a character from the book, like one of the Gods and Goddess. We couldn’t tell anyone who we were. We all had to make a twitter page and write 10 tweets saying quotes from our person. We did the quotes from hardest to easiest.Follow me on twitter to see what we’re doing in my english class.http://twitter.com/LWarner_11~

I recently read the book, Crank by Ellen Hopkins.

These are some great sentences that I found in Crank.

Simple Sentence:I talked about airplanes. pg.23

Complex Sentences: As for me, still battling the monster  for brain and stomach space, i picked at a single plate. Pg. 190

I found a compound and compound-complex sentence from the book, October Sky.

Compound Sentence – I heard him creep up the stairs and then I started thinking all over again. Pg. 53

Compound-Complex Sentence -Before I could reply, she sighed deeply once more, glanced over at her fence, and then stopmed past me and went inside.Pg.52

Crank Book Review

Published by under Uncategorized

Kristina Snow has always been the perfect daughter, a straight A student, and never one to get into trouble.  That is until the summer before her senior year, when she visits her drug-obsessed father. During her vacation, Kristina is introduced to a boy named Adam, who then introduces her into the” monster” that will change her forever. The “monster”, also known as crank, changes the innocent girl into Bree; a flirty, wild and crazy girl obsessed with her knew lifestyle.

Crank is written in poetry formation. I would not recommend this book to someone who has a hard time comprehending poetry. Teenagers and young adults are the appropriate ages for this book, because of its mature content.

Crank was a well written book. I thought the book was very detailed. It explained every little thing that was going on, I felt like I was actually in the book. In the book, she has an infection on her leg from her tatoo and she explains how it was swollen and puffy. But Crank an amazing but and I do recommend this book to the ages 15 and up.

Quotation Assignment

Published by under Uncategorized and tagged: ,

‘It is today we must create the world of the future.’ Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt was well know for speaking at meetings and events. Later on in life, she married the 32nd president,Franklin D. Roosevelt. After her husband died in 1945, she continued to be an author, speaker, politician, and activist. She helped women find work and find financial support.

Eleanor Roosevelt was an educated person and I believe she said this quote because we need to be aware for anything and help the children of today learn what to do for their future. We are inventing more and more that helps us with everyday life, and if people weren’t concern with our future then the world will be corrupt as if it was the end of the world.

I believe it means we need to be ready for tomorrow and we have to do that by all being there for each other and making our world a better place. Everyone should read this quote,so they will be informed with the future.
